Environmental Compliance Coordinator

Location: Rahway, NJ

Job Summary:

To provide in-house support to the Environmental, Health & Safety (EHS) Department and act as a resource to ensure environmental compliance within the company. Further the efficiency of the organization through strong organization and planning.

Essential Functions/ Responsibilities:

  • Personal vehicle travel may be required – mainly between ACV facilities as needed.
  • Day Travel – All Company Locations.
  • Develop and maintain compliance program to ensure that waste information is properly tracked to support the filing of various monthly, quarterly and annual reports.
  • Oversee and set up compliance of 10-day transporter yards (data entry for the HW log and insuring that waste is moved within the time constraints including regulatory inspections.).
  • Responsible for implementation of the SPCC, PIPP, and stormwater programs for the service center including all required reporting.
  • Manage off spec issues for waste disposal including rejected/ partial shipments, proper notifications- operations/ billing, proper authorizations in relation to contracts. Work through issues with Compliance Department.
  • Train field employees on environmental, transportation and related technical matters. Conduct various training programs as needed (may include but not limited to: DOT HM126, Manifest Preparation, RCRA, Stormwater, SPCC plans, and topic specific modules).
  • Work with the Director of Disposal and service center managers to ensure that ACV sites are properly managing self-generated waste to be in compliance with RCRA requirements.
  • Manage air permits as needed (Used Oil heaters, etc) including all reporting and sampling/analysis as needed.
  • Develop a positive working relationship with both internal and external customers.
  • Administrative duties including filing, typing, mailing, phone communication, etc.
  • Performance of other duties and responsibilities as required by management.
  • Serve as a regulatory resource throughout the company.Ensure the job is being performed in a safe and compliant manner by performing site safety audits, documenting findings, and following up on potential issues.

Additional Skills:

  • Personal vehicle travel may be required – mainly between ACV facilities as needed.
  • 1-2 years Environmental experience preferred.
  • 4 year degree in environmental science or chemistry preferred.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to effectively prioritize multiple tasks with minimum supervision and complete projects and daily duties in a timely manner.
  • Strong computer skills – Word, Excel, PowerPoint, database software, etc.
  • Excellent organizational skills with strong attention to detail.
