The primary purpose of the position is to ensure that all field operations are compliant with the EH&S safety processes and procedures.

Essential Functions:

  • Ensure the job is being performed in a safe and compliant manner by performing site safety audits, documenting findings, and following up on potential issues.
  • Ensure the Job Hazard/ Safety Analysis (JHA/ JSA) has been completed and communicated to all workers onsite.
  • Conduct on-site safety stand-downs/ tailgate meetings as needed.
  • Ensure any required permits (Confined Space Entry, Hot Work, etc.) are completed. If not, assist the worker to properly complete the required paperwork before allowing the job to continue and before leaving the jobsite.
  • Ensure workers have access to and are using proper PPE for identified hazards. Carry a supply of routine PPE, various blank forms and other necessary items in your vehicle.
  • Perform job site walks with Operations as necessary in order to write site-specific health & safety plans as needed by the divisions.
    Investigate incidents and accidents and prepare a written report and make recommendations for corrective actions. Additionally participate/ lead IRT meetings as necessary.
  • Assist in managed care of injuries.
  • Maintain and inspect safety equipment as needed (confined space equipment, SCBA units, fall protection equipment, etc.).
  • Manage Safety Committee Program.
  • Maintain and manage the BBS/ Good Catch/ Near Miss Program.
  • Maintain and monitor training records and/or manage them consistent with existing procedures. Ensure that divisions are keeping employees current.
  • Provide training on safety programs and SOPs as needed. Assist in developing needed training. Responsible for conducting New Hire Safety Orientation.

  • Maintain Housekeeping Program including completing housekeeping audits based on required frequency.
  • Comply with all ACV Enviro’s policies and procedures.
  • Interact frequently with management and hourly associates to identify and solve problems.
  • Serve as a safety and technical resource throughout the company.
  • Develop and maintain expertise on health & safety regulations.
  • Develop expertise in Air Monitoring, SCBAs, CSE equipment, fall protection, etc.
  • Work in a constructive, positive manner with a wide range of personalities and across management and organizational boundaries.

Job Qualifications:

  • Bachelors of science required in the field of (environmental science, public health, safety or industrial hygiene).
  • At least 3-5 years in an environmental, health and safety role. Demonstrated broad knowledge of EHS regulations in a technical field such as environmental science, public health, safety or industrial hygiene.
  • Ability to work under pressure to meet deadlines.
  • Ability to deal with unstructured problems that require defensible decisions on complex safety and regulatory matters.
  • Performance of other duties and responsibilities as required by management.
